CT4 COASTELMATIC OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS & SAFETY MANUAL |
|
 |
The
Coastelmatic CT4 Pneumatic Operator was designed to be used with
crimping, cutting and stripping tools that have spring retraction.
This
unit works with standard air compressors that have a 1/4" coupler and
a maximum output of 120 PSI. |
|
PLEASE READ AND UNDERSTAND THIS BULLETIN BEFORE USING THE TOOL. AND
ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES. |
|
When
using the Coastelmatic Pneumatic Operator you must do the following to
ensure safe usage:
-
Remember to wear SAFETY
GLASSES.
-
Always set the regulator
pressure to the minimum force needed to close the applicator
correctly and close the cover.
-
Adjust the flow control
speed setting to make sure that the tool does not close too quickly.
(Fig. 1)
-
Always keep work area
clean and free of debris.

Assembly:
The tool comes completely assembled, you will only need to install
your hand tool of choice and the machine is ready for use. It is
recommended that you secure the Coastelmatic Pneumatic Operator to
your work surface. This can be done by either screwing the base
directly to a table or by using a “C” clamp. Once the unit has been
set up it is time to connect the 120 PSI airline (NOTE: This unit is
pretested at the factory, but before you install your hand tools
please depress the foot pedal to verify the unit is working properly
(Fig 1 foot pedal) |
|
 |
Your
Coastelmatic Pneumatic Operator is now ready for tool insertion. The
method is the same for all tools. With the air line disconnected,
loosen the top tightening screw and slip the hand tool into place. The
lower handle will sit on the push wheel. Adjust the top tool holder to
the angle desired so that the tool will close enough to complete the
job. (Ratcheting tools will need to be installed so that they close
completely allowing them to re-open.) For most wire strippers you will
need to lower the upper tool holder so that the lower tool handle sits
on the roller. Before using the unit adjust the pressure to the
minimum amount needed to work the tool. Then insert a wire and test.
If the wire will not strip, increase the pressure slightly. |

Proper operation depends
on the user. There are several techniques that will help in the
operation of this tool. By adjusting the upper tool clamp, you will be
able to change the angle of how your tools fit into this unit (Fig.
3). When crimping small terminals you may need to slow the movement of
the cylinder. This can be done by closing the flow control valve (turn
clockwise Fig 2). Please take some time to try different settings so
that you become familiar with your Coastel Pneumatic Operator. |
